Leap Prepares a Feast for Ronald McDonald House

RMCDHOUSE

As Leap’s most recent outreach activity, we volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House. We took our shopping lists and bought tasty ingredients, then headed to the house to prepare a home-cooked meal to feed 60+ family members currently residing there while their sick children are cared for up the road. They couldn’t have been more appreciative!

Located in downtown Louisville, Kosair Children’s Hospital has been caring for and healing children from Kentucky and Southern Indiana for more than a century. Many families travel from far away to receive the best care for their children. It is important that the sick children feel safe with their families nearby, but hotel stays can become expensive. This is where the Ronald McDonald House comes into play. RMHC provides housing that is near to the hospitalized child. The unity of family is vital for a severely sick child to heal. RMHC makes it possible. At every house, families can enjoy home-cooked meals, private bedrooms, and playrooms. For all of this to be possible, RMHC relies heavily on volunteers and Leap truly enjoyed helping with dinner time!
