LOUISVILLE, Kentucky – June 6, 2011 – Leap’s Christy Belden participated in the judging of the 2011 Stevie® Awards. Belden, vice president of media + marketing, judged entries in the Web Site or Blog Awards and Live Event Awards categories.

“It was an honor not only to be asked to judge entries for the Stevie Awards but also to be held in this position with my peers,” said Belden. “There were some great entries, and I look forward to seeing the results.”

Judging ended May 27, and the results will be announced on June 20 at the ninth annual American Business Awards banquet held at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York.

Leap has a history of participating in judging for The American Business Awards. In 2009, Alan Gilleo, Chief Creative Officer for Leap, was part of the 15 leading creative executives named to the Board of Distinguished Judges and Advisors for the media section of The American Business Awards. Gilleo also participated in the final judging of the entries.

The Stevie® Awards was created to honor and generate public recognition of the achievements and positive contributions of organizations and business people worldwide. The award shows a person holding a pyramid above its head, which is representative of the belief that when a person’s basic needs are met, they will seek the esteem of their peers.

The Stevie® Awards has the following categories: Web Site, Blog, Video, Annual Report and Other Literature, Interactive Multimedia and Live Event Awards; Management Awards; Company/Organization Awards; Corporate Communications, Investor Relations, and Public Relations Awards; Customer Service Awards; Human Resources Awards; Information Technology Awards; Marketing Awards; New Product and Management Awards; and Support Awards.

Criteria vary by category, but according to The American Business Awards site, “the emphasis is on the overall quality of the entry: The merits of the claims to innovation, integrity, effectiveness, creativity, growth, etc. claimed in the entry, relative to the judges’ experience and their knowledge of the participant’s industry, as well as the quality of the entry’s content itself.”

All entries are judged on a scale of one to 10. All entries, which receive a score of 7.0 or higher in the preliminary round, will automatically progress to the final round of judging. If more than one entry is deserving of a Stevie® Awards, the final judges can award as many companies that fit the criteria.
